Younits was happy to attend the acclaimed AHR expo this year at McCormick place in Chicago, the largest HVAC/R marketplace in the world. From accumulators and actuators to Valves and welding equipment, this show really had it all. This year there were 2,000 exhibiting companies and we were only a few out of the 40,000 visitors passing through the exhibits and seeing this year’s latest technologies.
Classes were also offered as well as presentations from industry leaders. On Monday there was ‘Automation Armageddon’ presented by BACnet International and ‘Cooling Tower Fundamentals’ by CTI. Tuesday brought about ‘The latest trends in the global HVAC market’ by BSRIA and ‘Intelligent buildings & big data’ by CABA.
Mitsubishi’s latest mini split systems were really impressive. The amount of heating/cooling that could be delivered out of such a slim, unobtrusive unit was very impressive. The best of all was that both the indoor and outdoor sections of the system were nearly silent, it was remarkable to experience it in person.
The new large commercial rooftop HVAC units were also a sight to see, the fact that there were large doors to go inside the unit to work on it seemed to incorporate both practicality and ingenuity.
Next year’s show is being held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, so we may not get to see it next year, but you can count on our attendance the next time the AHR comes to Chicago in 2018.
